Susan "Susie" J. Gordon

Susan (Susie) Jeanne Gordon, 58, passed away on November 3rd, 2026 at the St. Cloud Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 7th, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Community Church in St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Pizza party lunch (per Susie’s request) to follow the service.
A private family burial will take place prior to the Celebration of Life service.
Susie was born on March 18th, 1968 in St. Cloud, MN to John and Audrey Benson (Peterson). At the age of 10, Susie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and her life’s mission was to show others her love and devotion to Him. Susie graduated from Apollo High School in 1986. In between high school and college, Susie spent two months on a mission’s trip in Mexico. After her trip, she attended St. Cloud State University and earned her associate’s degree in 1989. Upon graduation, Susie began her 37-year career in the Human Resources Department at the St. Cloud Hospital.
In December of 1990, Daniel (Dan) and Susie got married and raised four beautiful children together. Susie loved her family, especially her grandchildren, more than herself. She was always planning the next good memory that she wanted to make with her family, whether that was taking a trip to the North Shore, baking cookies or doing crafts with her grandkids, or a girls’ lunch and shopping outing. Susie had a sincere heart for others, a deep compassion and care for her family, friends, church, and coworkers, especially those who were hurting or in need. Whether she was crocheting a homemade gift or sending a thoughtful message to someone, Susie did what she could to bless those around her, even in the midst of her terminal battle with cancer.
Susie was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer on June 1st, 2011. She underwent aggressive treatment and surgeries and was in remission until May 2019 when she learned that the cancer had spread to her bones. With unflinching hope and resolve, Susie continued to battle the disease by undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Susie only knew how to fight hard and she always defied the odds; all she wanted was more time and memories with her family. On April 22, 2026, Susie was given 3 months to live because the cancer had spread to her brain. Despite her prognosis, Susie fought hard and continued with aggressive treatment to give her more time. Even in the midst of the last leg of her journey, she continued to love on her family, friends, and coworkers and share the hope of Christ.
Susie is survived by her devoted husband, Dan, their son Lukas (Heather) Gordon, their daughters Lindsay (Chris) Cooke, Mariah (Tanner) Nordlund, and Olivia Gordon; grandchildren: Carter (21), Peighton (17), Isla (16), Faith (16), Micah (12), Abram (9), Evelyn (5), Weston (3), and Cooper (1); parents, John and Audrey Benson; sister, Cindee (Daniel) Petrie; niece, Ellie Petrie; nephew, John Petrie; and many other beloved family members.
Susie is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Conwell and Mabel Benson, and maternal grandparents, Gustave and Lucille Peterson.
