LouAnn was born November 30, 1933, in Clinton, MN to her parents, Orlow Shoquist and Gladys (Lambert) Boutang. She worked at Twin City Federal while attending school at the University of Minnesota. In 1954 she was set up on a blind date by her sister Mary and her then boyfriend, Harry Nash, who was a teammate of Bill Garner on The UofM track team. They married on December 18, 1955. They celebrated 63 years of marriage until Bill’s passing in 2019.
LouAnn was devoted to her church, in 1961, Atonement Lutheran Church, where she and Billy were charter members. Some of her many roles there were BETA, wedding coordinator, and the bell choir. Billy lovingly called it the ding-a-ling club. She also participated in many pastoral search committees. She had lifetime friends with her Bridge groups, and they are still meeting monthly! For 20 years she was the coordinator for Home Delivered Meals with the St. Cloud Hospital. Lulu was also a Minnesota high school gymnastics judge for many years.
In 2011 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, kicked it and then remained cancer free. Lulu loved watching the Vikings, Twins, Timberwolves, SCSU hockey and everything her grandchildren were doing.
Lulu leaves behind her girls, Kelly Lahr, Jane (Jim) Herian and Sally (John) Atkinson; 10 grandchildren, Andrew (Amy) Herian, Taylor (Bryce) Jorgenson, Bobby (Becka) Garner, Olivia (Kempton) Schneider, Frank Garner, Anna (Jared) Downing, Daniel Lahr, Jack (Cass) Atkinson, Joey Atkinson and Charlie Atkinson. And 6 great grandchildren, Carson, Cameron, Callen, Harper, Hayes and Greyson and number 7 on the way!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; son, Tom; son-in-law, Kevin Lahr; siblings, Chuck Shoquist, Nancy Garner, Mary Nash; and brother-in-law, Harry Nash.
