Joanne Schwegman Moe

Joanne Schwegman Moe, age 87, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026 with her family at her side.
Joanne was born in August 1939, to Oscar and Ellen (Jensen) Moshier. She graduated from Cathedral High School and was a proud member of the drum core. She married Robert “Bob” Schwegman in August 1958 and they had six children. Bob passed away in 1975 at the age of 43.
Joanne was a stay-at-home mom raising her children. Following the death of Bob, she worked at Ground Round as a hostess, at Fingerhut and ultimately retiring from the St. Cloud Hospital as a nursing assistant after 10 years of caring for patients. In August 1982 Joanne married Ronald Moe. They shared 14 years of marriage until his passing in March 1997.
Joanne enjoyed spending time with her family, hosting Wednesday night happy hours, watching the Vikings, reading, traveling, gardening, fishing, hosting a yearly garage sale at her home and crocheting the highly anticipated gift of dish cloths. Holidays will not be the same without her.
Her family will always remember her wise crack jokes, the way she made sure to send a card for every holiday to her grandkids and how everyone was packed into her house, shoulder to shoulder during the holidays. She was a strong, kind and adventurous soul.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Paulette) Schwegman, Diane “Penny” (Larry) Winkelman, Tom (Sue) Schwegman, Sue (Scott) Kuettner, Lori (Hank Mann) Schwegman and Peggy Lynn (Eli) Hopper; grandchildren Alex (Rachel), Megan (Brian), Kristi, Bobby, Jenn (Tom), David (Rob), Morgan (Aidan), Bryan (Tessa), Greg (Ashley), Cory (Megan), Kayle, Rylee (Josh), Cooper, Tyler (Kaytee) and Ian; step-children Becky and Chris; step-grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Joanne is preceded in death by her parents; husbands Bob Schwegman and Ron Moe; brother Donald Moshier; granddaughter Shannon Backes; infant great grandchild Ethan Kestner and stepdaughter Jenny Moe.
A celebration of her life will take place on Sunday, September 27 from 3-6 p.m. at the VFW Granite Post 428, 9 18th Ave. North in St. Cloud. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to CentraCare Foundation – Coborn Cancer Center or donor’s choice. Special thanks to the staff on the 5th floor of St. Cloud Hospital for their tender care of Joanne.
