Jason "Jay Boy" L. Shilhanek

June 12, 1969 – September 29, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jason Lyle Shilhanek, lovingly known as “Jay Boy.” Formerly of Saint Cloud, Minnesota, Jason passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 6:05 p.m. due to heart complications. He was surrounded by family and friends in his final moments.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Moose Lodge (1300 3rd st N Waite Park, Minnesota 56387), on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Tim Haag will be officiating.
Jason was born on June 12, 1969, in Libby, Montana, to Lyle and Yvonne Shilhanek. Jason grew up in Washburn, North Dakota, where he attended Washburn Elementary and High School, graduating in 1987. His youth was filled with motorcycles, cars, sports, river swims, and countless adventures with friends.
After moving to Saint Cloud, Jason built a respected career as a journeyman’s carpenter, contributing to the construction of hospitals, bridges, malls, and banks across the area. His proudest achievement was the Copper Ridge Lodge in Draper, South Dakota. completed in 2015, it became his personal heaven.
Jason Cherished every moment spent at Copper Ridge Lodge. He lived life on his own terms, often fishing, cooking, teasing loved ones, and relaxing at the Backyard Bar with his loyal companion, River Dog, by his side.
Jason is survived by his life partner, Penny; sister, Emily Shilhanek; nephew, Levi Cooper, and many family members and friends whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Yvonne Shilhanek.
