     Charlene Holmes, age 86, St. Cloud, MN, died Friday, September 3, 2021 at her home in St. Cloud.
     Funeral services will be Monday, September 13, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon to 1:30 PM at the funeral home on Monday. Burial will be in Burr Oak Cemetery, Alsip, IL.
     Charlene was born February 2, 1935 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Charlie and Inella (Bagby) Morgan. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She married Norman Holmes in 1955. Charlene worked for the Oak Forest Hospital in Cook County, Illinois for 23 years. During that time she also attended and graduated from cosmetology school. She raised ten children and then moved to Minnesota to care for her daughter Daphne when she became ill and also helped raise Daphne’s children. Charlene was a member of Nu Way Missionary Baptist Church of St. Cloud, MN and was active at the Place of Hope. She was family oriented, big on education, a tough old girl, loved all her family and treated everyone the same. Mother Holmes loved her bingo. Charlene also loved the holidays where she enjoyed cooking for her family and providing for them, giving from her heart.
     Survivors include her sons, Charles Holmes of St. Cloud, MN; Robert Holmes of Duluth, MN; Pierre Holmes of St. Cloud, MN; daughters Stephanie Holmes-Coker of St. Cloud, MN; Linda Morgan-Jones of Bellwood, IL; 39 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norman Holmes, three daughters, Daphne Holmes, Inella Denise Morgan-Campbell and Kimberly Joann Holmes, two sons Renardo Holmes and Andre Edward Holmes, two brothers, George Dunn and Robert Morgan, and six grandchildren.
