    August 29, 1931 – June 15, 2021
     Dean Kenton Molin, age 89, was born Aug. 29, 1931 in Milaca, MN to Eric and Olive (Ostrom) Molin, and entered heaven on June 15.
     Dean graduated from Milaca High School in 1950, where he was in band, choir and drama and earned All-District and All-Conference honors in football and basketball for three consecutive years. Dean’s National Guard division was mobilized in January 1951. After training he was shipped to Korea and was assigned to the 14th Regimental Tank Company in the 25th Infantry Division. He was involved in a 28-day battle on Heartbreak Ridge while serving as tank commander and received the Bronze Star. In 1954 he returned to civilian life and helped pioneer the start of television in the Twin Cities at WTCN-TV Channel 11. In 1956 he married Valborg Nelson. In 1968 he returned to military and civil service working in public affairs, retiring in 1989 with the rank of Major. His military career lasted nearly 44 years. Dean was a skilled craftsman and woodworker and had many hobbies, including golfing, gardening and studying military history. He and Val traveled all over the world and spent many winters in Arizona.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Vallard, Orren, Neil, and Hobart; and sister Helen.
     Dean is survived by his wife of 64 years, Val; sisters-in-law Mary Ann Molin and Betty Schadeck, and many nieces and nephews.
     Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Maple Plain on Thursday, June 24 at 11 AM with visitation at 10 AM. Interment at Ft. Snelling at 1:30 PM on July 28.
