    DANIEL J. SAMUELSON, 85
    St. Cloud
    May 20, 1926 ~ November 22, 2011

Daniel James Samuelson, age 85, St. Cloud, MN, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital as a result of complications from an infection. His family and friends were by his side when he drifted off to be with the Lord.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
Dan was born May 20, 1926 in Willmar, MN to Clifford L. and Edna (Helgrimson) Samuelson. He met his wife, Gladys Gjerde, at the Spicer Roller Rink. They were married on August 6, 1944 in Willmar, MN. After 67 years of marriage, Dan and Gladys were always together --when you saw Dan you saw his Gladys.
As so many young men, Dan served in the United States Army during World War II. After he was discharged, Dan returned working for Great Northern Railroad. Dan then found a career with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. During his career with the Postal Service he worked both in Minneapolis and Willmar, MN.
Dan enjoyed polka music, corn feeds and parades with his grandchildren. At 85, Dan enjoyed conquering modern technology.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Samuelson of St. Cloud, MN; two daughters, Lorraine (Glenn) Hansen of Mankato, MN; Marlaine (Mike) Branton of Hutchinson, MN; son, Kiff (Renee) Samuelson of Duluth, MN; sisters, Rosemond Smith of Willmar, MN; Donna Asche of Willmar, MN; brother, Harold Samuelson of Temecula, CA; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Earl and Paul Samuelson.
Our thoughts are treasures of the life and memories of our loving husband, father and grandfather. We will surely miss him.
