     Joseph “Joe” Francis Pelzer, age 80, South Haven, MN died Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at his home.
     Funeral services will be Saturday, October 2, 2004 at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church, St. Cloud, MN. Rev. Dan Schneider Bryan will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, October 1, 2004 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, 302 5th Ave. S., St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     Joe Pelzer was born March 23, 1924 in Maine Prairie, MN to Fred and Marie (Moreau) Pelzer. He married Luilla Pramann on May 20, 1950 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in St. Cloud, MN. Joe lived all of his life in Stearns County. He farmed most of his life, except for three years when he drove truck for Nash Finch.
     Joe was a people person and was interested in all that the world could offer. He was active in his church in his younger years. Joe worked with the 4-H program where he was an adult leader for five years and served on the advisory council for four years. He was a member of the Draft Horse Association for 25 years and was a charter member for the last 2 years. Joe served as the draft horse superintendent at the Stearns County Fair for 24 years. In 1975 he started his hobby of working with leather. Joe worked in his shop until about two months before his death. Joe was named Stearns County Senior Citizen of the Year in 2002.
     Survivors include his wife, Luilla Pelzer, of South Haven, MN; sons and daughters, David (Linda) Pelzer of St. Cloud, MN; ConnieLou Pelzer of St. Cloud, MN; LuAnn (Gregg) Brown of St. Cloud, MN; Dean (Kim ) Pelzer of South Haven, MN; eight grandchildren, Gena (Ed) Diederich and Jennifer (Tony) Held, Nate and Matt Pelzer, Michael and Emily Brown, Megan and Ted Pelzer; three great grandchildren, Morgan and Katelyn Held and Zachary Diederich; brothers and sisters, Marc (Lois) Pelzer of Fort Ripley, MN; Fred (Esther) Pelzer of Royalton, MN; Doug (Rita) Pelzer of Brainerd, MN; Dan (Eileen) Pelzer of Flensburg, MN; Pauline (Alvin) Neu of Little Falls, MN; Lorraine (Jim) Schneider of Sartell, MN;
     He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Herman and Lawrence Pelzer and two sisters, Bernadine Krick and Leona Pelzer.
     The family would like to extend a special thank you to Wanda Borchardt of St. Cloud Hospital Hospice program.
