Norman Edward Douglas, age 85, St. Cloud, MN, died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Salem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Monday, August 15, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.
Norman was born May 7, 1926 in Detroit, MI to Eugene L. and Estelle B. (Barlow) Douglas. He married Lucy L. Moore on July 9, 1949 in Detroit, MI.
Norman graduated from Thomas Cooley High School, Detroit, MI in 1944 and received his BA from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI in 1950. Norman served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was employed the Burroughs Corporation (now Unisys) for 17 year as editor and for Independent Bankers Association of America as editor from 1981 to 1991. Norman and Lucy moved to St. Cloud, MN in 1991. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he was a long time usher, and Golden K Kiwanis Club. Norman also volunteered at Whitney Senior Center for 10 years and then at CentraCare Clinic for 10 years.
Survivors include a son, David E. (Cynthia) Douglas of Oak Park, MI; a daughter, Lynn L. (Ralph) Bothwell of St. Cloud MN; and four grandchildren, Kimberly (Doug) Rothhammer, Marlin Zygula, Dawn Douglas and Christina Douglas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lucy, on March 7, 2005.
