Melvin Oliver Sanquist, age 89, St. Cloud, MN, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at his home.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, St. Joseph, MN.
Melvin was born December 1, 1921 in Hines, MN to Spencer and Olive (Goble) Sanquist. He married Alvina Marie Aronson on June 26, 1944 in Miles City, MT. During his life, Melvin was employed as a welder in the construction industry. He enjoyed stock car racing, NASCAR, bird watching, the outdoors, football and family time.
Survivors include sons and daughters, Darlene (Kurt) Ogg of Borbonnis, IL; Connie Haberkorn of Kempton, IL; Ralph (Shari) Sanquist of Nevis, MN; Melvin (Jeanette) Sanquist of Royalton, MN; Judy Sanquist of Cold Spring, MN; Imogene (Roger) Ebert of Sauk Centre, MN; Kenneth (Kathy) Sanquist of Cold Spring, MN; Warren Sanquist of St. Cloud, MN; Jay Sanquist of Rockville, MN; Brett (Janet) Sanquist of Danube, MN; Bart (Sandy) Sanquist of St. Cloud, MN; brother and sisters, Spencer (Pat) Sanquist of Chicago, IL; Imogene Pennington of Carbondale, IL; Lorraine Wahls of Paducah, KY; 32 grandchildren; 59 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alvina, on May 26, 2011, sister, Lulu Voshell, brother, Lloyd Sanquist, grandchildren, Patrick Haberkorn, Victor Schroeder and Dawn Anderson, sons-in-law, Ron Haberkorn and William Wilson, brothers-in-law, Grant Voshell and Herschel Pennington, and sister-in-law, Esther Sanquist.
