     Eugene R. Perkins, age 83, died Thursday, September 23, 2004 at St. Benedict’s Care Center, St. Cloud, MN.
     Memorial services will be Saturday, October 2, 2004 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     Eugene Perkins was born April 4, 1921 in Beaver Creek, Minnesota to Floyd & Myrtle (Sutherland) Perkins. He married Lorraine Andrews on June 28, 1942 in Hayward, CA. As a National Guard member he was called to active duty in 1941. He served in California, Ohio and Iran until 1946. He joined the Army Reserves and later retired as a Lt. Colonel. He graduated from St. Cloud State University in 1947 and taught in Paynesville, MN for three years. Eugene then earned his Master’s from the University of Minnesota and became a School Psychologist in Cincinnati, Ohio for six years. In 1958 he returned to St. Cloud State University to teach in the Psychology Department. He earned his Doctorate at the University of Northern Colorado in 1967, returned to St. Cloud State University and established the program for a Master’s Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. In 1993 he received the Distinguished Service Award for his work in that field. Eugene was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was an elder, a member of Phi Delta Kappa and a Board member for Habitat for Humanity.
     Survivors include his wife Lorraine Perkins of St. Cloud, MN; sons, Gerald Perkins of San Jose, CA; David (Leila) Perkins of Plainview, MN; Douglas Perkins of Apple Valley, MN; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Frank Perkins and one sister, Janet Wallace.
     Memorials preferred to National Parkinson Foundation.
