Mona M. Nied, age 87, St. Cloud, MN died Monday, June 20, 2011 at her home.
A Celebration of Mona’s Life will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM at the East Side VFW Post 4847, St. Cloud, MN . Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Mona was born June 20, 1924 in Dayton, MN to Edmond and Jenny (Green) Morrisette. She graduated from Elk River High School. Mona worked for the war effort assembling airplanes in St. Cloud and Santa Barbara, CA and then did clerical work in Omaha, NE. She married Donald Nied in 1946 and they made their home in St. Cloud, MN. Mona was then employed by Franklin Manufacturing retiring in 1986. She enjoyed reading, knitting, quilting, crocheting and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include sons and daughter, Mary Santaferraro of San Jose, CA; Red Nied of St. Cloud, MN; Stephen Nied of St. Cloud, MN; Don Nied, Jr. of Santa Cruz, CA; Suzette Toomey of Andover, MA; Nancy Markwartz of Ely, MN; and John Nied of Maple Grove, MN; 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ralf Stalhberg of Elk River, MN; Ora Millas of Elk River, MN; Roger Morrisette of Deer River, MN; Paul Morrisette of Dayton, MN; Phylis Weber of Rogers, MN; Marianne Oliver of Las Vegas, NV; and Glen Morrisette of Dayton, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald in 1971, son, Dale Nied in 1995, brother and sisters, Alway Stalhberg, Jean Morrisette, Gwen Hoffman, Dorothy Bracil and Ed Morrisette.
