     Harlan Charles Platzer, age 83, Rockville, MN, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, St. Cloud, MN.
     Memorial services will be Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Granite City Baptist Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one half hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be Friday, June 17, 2011 at 11:30 AM at Crystal Lake Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     Harlan was born September 29, 1927 in Young America, MN to Clyde A. and Valeria (Stender) Platzer. He graduated from Norwood-Young America High School in 1945. Harlan served in the United States Army, from 1946 to 1947, during W.W.II. On September 18, 1951, Harlan was united in marriage to Frances L. Hayes. He attended school at National Electronics and was self employed as a television repairman. Harlan enjoyed spending time at Lake O’Brien in Crosslake, MN. He also enjoyed fishing and bowling. Harlan was quick witted, had a good sense of humor and was always busy.
     Survivors include his wife, Frances Platzer of Rockville, MN; daughters and son; Denese (Richard) Graham of Dayton, MN; Richard (DeeAnn) Platzer of St. Michael, MN; Susan Platzer of Marietta, GA; Becky (Walter) Caffery of Lakeville, MN; sisters, Joyce (James) Hanrahan of Lowry, MN; Shirley Michaelias of Plato, MN; eleven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Robert in 1975, grandson, James in 1978, and sister, LaVaughn in 2008.
