Lucy P. Schmidt, age 61, St. Cloud, MN died Monday, June 13, 2011 at her home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Nativity Lutheran, St. Anthony, MN. Visitation will be Thursday June 16, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Lucy was born January 12, 1950 in Willmar, MN to Carlton H. and Mildred L. (Fostervold) Eliason. She graduated from Willmar High School in 1968 and received her nurses training at Willmar Technical College. She Married Reed Schmidt in Willmar, MN in 1968. They later divorced. Lucy worked as a LPN in hospital and nursing homes in Bemidji, East Grand Forks, Morris, Perham, Frazee, Madison, and St. Cloud. She retired in February of 2010 from the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, MN. Lucy loved being a nurse. Lucy loved baseball, especially the Twins, doing crafts, such as knitting, embroidery, and sewing many blankets for family members. She loved shopping at Savers and Goodwill. Lucy loved to spend time with family, especially on Christmas. She loved spoiling all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and she looked forward to the State Fair.
She is survived by sons and daughters; Paul (Amy) Schmidt of Atwater, MN; Clint (Stacy) Schmidt of Burnsville, MN; Heidi (Tom) Heller of St. Anthony, MN; Sara (Darin) Jahn of Richfield, MN; one brother; Murph (Jan) Eliason of Willmar, MN; three sisters; Joann (Bruce) Amundson of Shoreline, WA; Beverly (Gayle) Emberland of Fairfield Glade, TN; Lorraine (Bob) Nelson of New London, MN; one stepsister; Carole (Ed) Rose of Mooresville, IN; and 12 grandchildren, AJ, Hailee, Mackenzie, Emma, Skyller, Alexis, Spencer, Trey, Evan, Juliana, Reese and Freya.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Hildur Hanson. |
