    ELLEN I. FRICK, 92
    Rochester
    November 11, 1918 ~ May 15, 2011

Ellen Irene Frick, age 92, Rochester, formerly of Briggs Lake, Sherburne County, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2011. A family burial service will be held at 1:30 PM on June 3 at Crystal Lake Cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorial services will be Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ellen was born November 11, 1918 in Fredrick, SD to Axel and Marion (Johnson) Lindgren. She married Lennard Frick on June 8, 1940 in Minneapolis. Ellen owned and operated Ellen's Beauty Shop in Minneapolis for four years. In 1973 Ellen and Len moved from Brooklyn Park to their Briggs Lake house, which started out as a summer cabin that they built by hand in 1954. Ellen and Len's Briggs Lake house became a central meeting place for daughter Debra's friends. Ellen always had hot chocolate and treats ready after a cold day of snowmobiling.
Ellen wintered in Texas with her loyal companion, Kitty, until 2003, where she took up acrylic painting and photography and also volunteered working with children who had reading difficulties.
Survivors include sons Roger (Melanie) Frick of Minneapolis, Ron Frick (Fiancee Janice) of St. Cloud, and daughter Debra (Rod) Berekvam of Rochester; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lennard, sister, Frances Gustafson, brother, Edwin Lindgren, and daughter-in-law, Carol Frick.
Memorial donations can be sent to Camp Companion, a shelter for homeless animals (volunteer.truist.com/olmsted/volunteer) or Doctors without Borders (www.doctorswithoutborders.org).
