     Gerald “Jerry” Lee Curtis, age 55, Sartell, MN died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at his home after a courageous battle with kidney cancer.
     Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Celebration Lutheran Church, Sartell, MN. Visitation will be Monday, April 11, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Cushing Union Cemetery, Cushing, MN.
     Jerry was born February 9, 1956 in Minneapolis, MN to Floyd and Marie (Olsen) Curtis. He married Nancy Ross on September 21, 1985 at the House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Richfield, MN. Jerry received an AA Degree from Minneapolis Technical Institute in sheet metal technology. He was employed by various shops in the Minneapolis area and was most recently employed by McDowall Co. in Waite Park, MN. Jerry was a member of Celebration Lutheran Church, and Sheet Metal Workers Local #10.
     Jerry loved the outdoors. From the early 80’s until 2010 he fished regularly in state and national professional bass tournaments. His crowning moment being when he won the 2000 Minnesota Pro-Am Bass Tour Tournament of Champions and won a Ranger Bass boat. Jerry also liked to ice fish. He loved the land he inherited from his grandfather in Cushing, MN. There he hunted deer and wild turkeys. In his later years, he used his free time to help disabled hunters hunt turkeys and pheasants. Jerry loved his church and a highlight of his life was when he went on a mission trip to Haiti in 2010. Jerry loved hockey and coached several years with the Sartell Youth Hockey. He also volunteered his time with Boy Scout Troop #11.
     Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of Sartell, MN; sons, Shaun Curtis of Sartell, MN; Bradley (fiancé Kimberlee) Curtis of Bloomington, MN; Brian (Vanessa) Curtis of Rosemount, MN; mother, Marie Curtis of Box Elder, SD; brother and sisters, Donald Curtis of Box Elder, SD; Darlene Curtis of Minneapolis, MN; Sandra Curtis of Box Elder, SD; and one granddaughter, Emily Curtis.
     He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd, infant son, Peter, infant daughter, Corey, grandparents, Arthur and Evelyn Olsen and Lyle Curtis and Louise Chandler.
     Pallbearers will be Larry Then, Terry Vereide, Jerry Wervey, Donald Curtis, Scott Hanson and Dean Hartley.
     Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
