     Wilfred Roman “Red” Stang, age 83, died peacefully Thursday morning at his daughter’s home in Sartell, MN.
     Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Sartell, MN. Fr. Alfred Stangl and Fr. Michael Wolfbauer will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial, with full military honors, will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Sartell, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     Red was born August 27, 1927 in St. Joseph, MN to Joseph and Magdelena (Rassier) Stang. He served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1949. Red worked in truck and auto sales most of his life. After his retirement Red was involved for many years in wood working. Hand crafted wood gifts by Red were on display at many craft shows. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in South St. Paul and a former member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Sartell.
     Survivors include his ex wife, Mary Lou Stang of Sartell, MN and their sons and daughters, Gary (Roseann) Stang of Sartell, MN; Mary Jo (Larry) Then of Sartell, MN; Kenneth Stang of Sartell, MN; Theresa (Scott Henderson) Stang of Minneapolis, MN; ex wife, Julie Franklin of Stillwater, MN and their daughter, Tori Jo (Justin) Bates of Chicago, IL; brother and sisters, Valeria Kraemer of New Hope, MN; Sylvester Stang of Sartell, MN; Marie Janssen of St. Cloud , MN; Carol Trautz of Waite Park, MN; Delores Crowell of Hubertus, WI; and Josephine Meyer of St. Joseph, MN; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kevin, brothers, Al, Roman and Victor Stang and an infant brother, Leo Stang.
     Red’s family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to all staff and organizations that assisted with the emotional and physical transitions Red and his family endured over the past few months.
     Memorials are preferred to Heartland Hospice.
     Pallbearers will be Patrick Stang, Erica Stang, Leah Chamberlin, Kyle Henderson, Jenna Stang, Mary Ann Stang and Jonathen Stang-Then. Honorary pallbearers will be Emily Then, Kirk Henderson, Isabel Bates and Benjamin Bates.
