     Alice M. Gangestad, age 94, Sartell, MN formerly of St. Cloud and Brainerd, MN, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at Country Manor Health Care Center, Sartell, MN.
     Funeral services will be Friday, January 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
     Alice was born August 10, 1916 in East Chain, Minnesota to Reynold and Anna (Hallstrom) Blomstrom. She married Arnold H. Gangestad on October 23, 1943 in Brainerd, MN. During W.W.II Alice attended Midland Radio and TV School in Kansas City, MO and then worked for American Airlines as a radio & teletype operator. Alice was a member of Park United Methodist Church, Brainerd, MN and was active in church groups. She was a member of Purple Heart Auxiliary, Brainerd, MN. One of Alice’s favorite pastimes was being an artist.
     Survivors include son, Earle (Rachel) Gangestad of Westerville, OH; daughter, Linda Skarolid of Coon Rapids, MN; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arnold Gangestad on November 26, 2010, one sister, Norma Woodhouse and six brothers, Donald Blomstrom, Albert Blomstrom, George Blomstrom, Vernon Blomstrom, Clifford Blomstrom, and Robert Blomstrom.
     Alice’s family would like to thank the staff of Country Manor Health Care Center and the staff of the St. Cloud Hospital Hospice for the loving care and support they provided Mom.
