     Arnold Henry Gangestad, age 96, Sartell, MN, formerly of St. Cloud and Brainerd, MN, died Friday, November 26, 2010 at Country Manor Health Care Center, Sartell, MN.
     Funeral services will be Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
     Arnold was born June 5, 1914 in Armstrong, IA to Henry S. and Carrie B. (Goldsberry) Gangestad. He married Alice M. Blomstrom on October 23, 1943 in Brainerd, MN. Arnold served in the United States Army during WW II from 1941 to 1944. He was employed as a salesman for Burton’s, Brainerd, MN. Arnold was a member of Park United Methodist Church, Brainerd, MN, where he served as treasurer for 7 years. He was also a member of Brainerd American Legion Post # 255; Brainerd Disabled American Veterans; and the Military Order of Purple Heart. Some of Arnold’s favorite pastimes were fishing and baseball.
     Survivors include his wife, Alice Gangestad of Sartell, MN; son, Earle (Rachel) Gangestad of Westerville, OH; daughter, Linda Skarolid of Coon Rapids, MN; sisters, Doris Carlson of Armstrong, IA; Mavis Nelson of Sheridan, WY; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ernest Gangestad and sister, Helen Orange.
