Ione V. Hopke Diedrich, age 92, St. Cloud, MN, died Sunday, August 8, 2010 at St. Benedict’s Senior Community, St. Cloud, MN.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 2:30 PM at Life Assembly of God Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 11, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Eagles Auxiliary prayer service will be at 6:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.
Ione was born January 17, 1918 in Clear Lake, MN to Alfred M. And Martha E. (Curtis) Stavrum. She graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1936. On July 19, 1937, Ione was united in marriage to Herman F. Hopke in St. Cloud, MN. He died on February 8, 1970. Ione married Leonard Diedrich on July 7, 1979. He died on July 9, 1988. Ione was employed by St. Cloud State University from 1971 to 1983. She was a charter member of Life Assembly of God Church and Eagles Aerie #622 Auxiliary.
Survivors include sons and daughters, Terry (Audrey) Hopke of St. Cloud, MN; Thomas Hopke (friend, Joyce Sanders) of Sauk Rapids, MN; Cynthia (Edwin) Meyer-Holthaus of Richmond, MN; Jane (Michael) Spaude of St. Cloud, MN; four grandchildren, Todd (Deb) Meyer, Lisa Hopke, Heather (Jack) Stephens and Krin (Todd) Thell; and three great grandchildren, Ali Meyer, Jade Thell and Jake Thell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Herman and Leonard, brothers, Avon, Wayne, Marvel and Harold Stavrum, and sisters, Elsie Scheel, Neva Peterson, and Vera Duncan. |
