Donald B. Johnson, age 76, Waite Park, MN, died Friday, July 23, 2010 at his beloved lake home on Lake Andrew, Alexandria, MN.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.
Don was born on July 18, 1934 to Leonard and Etta Mae (Greenfield) Johnson in Sanish, North Dakota. He lived in Fargo, North Dakota were he attended school and college. Don was in the Air National Guard for 6 years with an honorable discharge. He married Alta Haroldson on August 10, 1953. Don worked for Standard Oil Company for many years, then owned an accounting business with his wife, Alta and then was employed by the Principal Financial Group. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Through his work and community volunteering, Don made many friends and enjoyed helping people in any way he could. He was devoted to his family and friends and took pleasure in their successes and accomplishments. Don loved the outdoors including the annual deer hunting weekend with his family. He was an avid wood worker making many beautiful items for friends and family. Don was dedicated to living life to the fullest. He loved being at his lake home in Alexandria, MN and spending time with family especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Alta of Waite Park, MN; son and daughter, Michael (Pat) Johnson of St. Cloud, MN; Jennifer (Peter) Hill of St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren, Krista (James) Hagen, Lucas Johnson, Patrick Johnson, Lily Johnson, Michael Hill, Elizabeth Hill, and Kathleen (Charlie) Bahnson; one great grandson, Samuel Hagen; two sisters, Lyleen Ewing of Newport Beach, CA and Joyce Poallilo of Paso Robles, CA.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Rolland. |
