October 27, 1958 - April 18, 2010
Mike Gregory, age 51, St. Cloud, MN, died Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital of a spinal cord injury as a result of a fall down a stairway.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Community Church, St. Cloud, MN. Rev. Wayne Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 4:00 to 9:00 PM at the Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery.
Mike was born in Minneapolis, MN on October 27, 1958 to Joseph and Dorothy (Stip) Gregory. He was a 1977 graduate of Apollo High School and a graduate of the St. Cloud Area Vocational Technical College. On August 21, 1982 Mike married Lynn Setten at Salem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, MN. Mike was employed by Rivard Stone in brick and stone sales and was the varsity baseball coach for St. Cloud Apollo High School where as a student he also played baseball for the Apollo Eagles and the St. Cloud 76ers Legion baseball team. He began his high school baseball coaching career 11 years ago for Apollo, and has been head coach for the program since 2005. Mike also volunteered with the St. Cloud Youth Basketball Program and the Waite Park Babe Ruth Baseball Program. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and the St. Cloud Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 622. Mike also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, where in addition to baseball, golf outings, cabin vacations and sports talk of any kind were welcome activities.
Survivors include his wife Lynn Gregory of St. Cloud, MN; sons Ryne and Reese Gregory and daughter Ashton Gregory, all of St. Cloud, MN; mother Dorothy Gregory of St. Cloud, MN; sister Sheila Gregory of Chicago, IL; father-in-law Jerry Setten of St. Joseph, MN; sisters-in-law Deb (Mark Petroske) Setten-Petroske and their son, Tanner, of St. Cloud, MN; and Kerry (Dan Hoffstrom) Setten-Hoffstrom of Eden Prairie, MN.
Mike was preceded in death by his infant son, Gerrit John Gregory; father Joseph Gregory; and mother-in-law Shirley (Sweeter) Setten.
