Charles Jacob Willms, age 83, St. Cloud, MN, died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN in the summer.
Charles was born March 2, 1926 in St. Paul, MN to Jacob and Clara (Svare) Willms. He married Agnes Greve on September 9, 1947 in St. Paul, MN. Charles worked as Chief Engineer at WJON, Program Director at KFAM, and as an engineer for Northwestern Bell Telephone for 26 years, retiring in 1983. He also worked for the Larson Bus Company for 20 years. Charles was a life time member of Telephone Pioneers of America.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Agnes Willms of St. Cloud, MN; sons and daughter, Bruce (Debra) Willms of Scandia, MN; Chad (Sally) Willms of Mena, AR; Janice (Steven) Johnson of Gainesville, GA; brother and sister, Warren (Rosie) Willms of Gully, MN; Oline Chial of Prior Lake, MN; five grandchildren, Erica Johnson, Ian (Kaori) Willms, Sarah (Paul) Kraft, Daniel (Jennifer) Willms and Mary Willms; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Wyne and Dr. Mark Hauge and their staff for their care of Charles.
