     Richard “Dick” William McNary, age 76, St. Cloud, MN died Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Legends of Heritage Place, Sartell, MN.
     Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 29, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. There will be a Masonic Prayer Service at 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN with Military Honors by Waite Park American Legion.
     Dick was born December 26, 1932 in St. Paul, MN to William C. and Elizabeth M. (Dawson) McNary. He married Shirley A. Bardwell on June 30, 1956 in Alton, Iowa. Dick served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958. He then served in the US Army Reserves until retiring in 1992. Dick was employed by Emporium, Target and then Fingerhut retiring in 1994. He was a life member of North Star Masonic Lodge # 23 AF & AM, St. Cloud Chapter #10 of Royal Arch Masons, Nazarene Commandary # 24, Brainerd Zabud Council # 10 Cryptic Masons, St. Cloud Shrine Club, St. Cloud Shrine Go-Karts, TREA (the Retired Enlisted Association), and the National Sojourners, MN Chapter 25 Minneapolis. He was also a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Minneapolis, Osman Shrine Temple, St. Paul, Aadzuhman Shrine Club, Brainerd, MN, Waite Park American Legion Post 428, Eagles Aerie 622 and Riverside Church, Sartell, MN.
     Survivors include his wife, Shirley McNary of St. Cloud, MN; daughters, Susan (Steve) Hobbs of Valencia, CA; Elizabeth (Tom) Archer of St. Cloud, MN; Leslie McNary of St. Cloud, MN; Patty McNary of St. Cloud, MN; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 granddaughters, Joy Archer and Angel R. O’Malley and one great granddaughter, Angel Marie Anderson
     Memorials are preferred to St. Cloud Women’s Auxiliary to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Twin Cities Unit.
     Dick’s family would like to say a special thank you to the staffs of The Legends of Heritage Place and the St. Cloud Hospital Hospice Program.
