Jean M. Aune, age 83, St. Cloud, MN died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN after a valiant struggle with cancer. Her hopeful spirit remains in our hearts.
Funeral Services will be Friday, July 10, 2009 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, St. Peter, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Jean was born October 4, 1925 in St. Peter, MN to Ernest and Margaret (Ruth) Gustafson. She married Richard Aune on August 4, 1948 in St. Peter, MN. Jean began her career as a teacher at McKinley High School in LeCenter, MN then worked in special education in Rochester, Fergus Falls and St. Cloud.
As a community volunteer, Jean touched many lives. She volunteered as a pianist for the St. Cloud Area Fun Singers for 18 years. She volunteered with Great Theater for 16 years where she wrote music for two original musicals: Pollyanna and 101 Dalmatians. She worked with Community Ed and Project Challenge in many capacities, one of her favorites being the Project Challenge Singers. Jean brought music to the hearts of so many people.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Aune of St. Cloud, MN; son, Steven (Cathy) Aune of Wichita Falls, TX; daughter, Susan Aune of St. Cloud, MN; brothers, Russell Gustafson of Emily, MN; Myron Gustafson of Sun City West, AZ; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Bayliss and Jodi (David) Long; two great grandchildren, Cameron and Ryan Long; and special companions, Chelsea, Cara and Dusty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Mark Aune, daughter, Jerilyn (Aune) Hanold and brother, Terry Gustafson.
Memorials are preferred to Donor's Choice.
The family would like to thank the staff of Comfort Keepers and Spectrum Home Care for the excellent care they provided Jean.
