Wesley L. Perry, Age 94, Sartell, MN, died Monday, June 8, 2009 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House, St. Augusta, MN.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Episcopal Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Thursday, June 11, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Brockway Township Cemetery, Stearns County, Minnesota.
Wesley was born March 27, 1915 in Brockway Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Everett and Jennie (Hiscock) Perry. He completed his primary education at Stearns County District 7. Wes began farming in 1940, but joined the United States Army Air Force in 1943 and served 37 months. On August 9, 1945, Wes married Helen L. Thornbloom at St. John’s Episcopal Church, St. Cloud, MN. He took evening agricultural classes for four years and they farmed in Brockway Township until 1980. Wes enjoyed reading, gardening, Minnesota Twins baseball games, and feeding the birds.
Survivors include sons, Lowell (Marlyn) Perry of Glenwood, MN; Jon (Laurie) Perry of Sartell, MN; Kelvin Perry of Roseville, MN; two grandchildren, Lisa (Sean) Dolan of Grand Forks, ND; and Zachary Perry of Sartell, MN; and three step grandchildren, David (Kimberly) Benson of Benson, MN; Scott Benson of Victoria, MN; and Steven (Kimberly) Benson of Benson, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen, on November 18, 1997, two brothers Samuel and Harvey Perry, and five sisters, Mamie McKenzie, Nettie Murphy, Laura Angle, Irma Gates and Edna Olson.
Memorials are preferred to Quiet Oaks Hospice House, St. Augusta, MN.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Cloud Hospital Hospice program and Quiet Oaks Hospice House for the compassionate care they provided to their father and grandfather. |
