     Ruby Evelyn Olson, age 97, Sauk Rapids, MN died Thursday, June 17, 2004 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
     Funeral services will be Monday, June 21, 2004 at 12:00 Noon at Siloah Lutheran Church, rural Graceville, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in the Siloah Lutheran Cemetery, rural Graceville, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     Ruby Evelyn Olson was born May 4, 1907 in rural Traverse Co., near Graceville, MN to Olof and Amanda (Palm) Hanson. She was baptized as an infant at the Siloah Lutheran Church, Parnell Township, rural Graceville. Ruby was also confirmed at Siloah. She attended grade school in rural Traverse Co., Graceville. She attended high school in Wheaton, later transferring to Graceville. Ruby graduated from Graceville High School in 1926.
     On February 8, 1929 Ruby was united in marriage to Lewis T. Olson in Clinton, MN. To this union seven children were born. Ruby worked at Myrtle’s Cafe in Wheaton for a number of years, as well as working at Scheel’s Hardware for a short period of time.
     Ruby lived in the Beardsley, Graceville, Ortonville and Wheaton areas, moving to St. Cloud in July 1979. In May 1999, she moved to Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids after suffering a heart attack.
     Ruby loved to travel by bus, having traveled to the West Coast several times to visit relatives. She enjoyed her trip to Alaska where she visited with two of her sons and families living there at that time. Ruby also loved playing cards and bingo with her friends.
     Surviving are seven children, Lois (Jack) Paulsen of St. Cloud, MN; Lucille (Warren) Block of Ortonville, MN; Ronald (Marie) Olson of Sauk Rapids, MN; Marlene (Jack) Ballee of Henderson, NV; Lewis (Marlene) Olson of Clear Lake, MN; Janice Crawford of Las Vegas, NV; Kenneth (Rita) Olson of Beulton, CA; one sister, Vivian Barlage of Wheaton, MN; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Hanson of Sunnyvale, CA; one brother-in-law, Alfred Hunt of Wheaton, MN; twenty nine grandchildren; sixty four great grandchildren and twenty great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and a good friend, Julia Jacobs of Wheaton, MN.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, Olof and Amanda Hanson, husband, Lewis in 1943, brothers, Marlowe and Raymond Hanson, sisters, Lucille Billiet, Olive Hunt and Irene Westman and two great grandchildren.
