Marjorie Ione Knutson, age 94, Anoka, MN, formerly of St. Cloud, MN died Monday, May 11, 2009 at Ark on the River, Anoka, MN.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 17, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Marjorie Ione Ostling was born at home on February 21, 1915 in Wheaton, MN to Olaf and Grace (Persinger) Ostling. On August 26, 1938, Marjorie married Niles J. Knutson in Minneapolis, MN. She was a life member of Granite Chapter #5, Order of the Eastern Star; White Shrine; White Cross and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Marjorie was a volunteer Gray Lady at the St. Cloud Veterans Administration Medical Center and later volunteered for American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels. Marjorie had a beautiful countenance, fine mind, caring heart and joyful sense of humor. Her warmth and love touched many and will continue to live in those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Survived by son, Jannard (Shirley) Knutson of Sartell; daughter, Kathleen Speggen of Coon Rapids; three grandsons, Christopher (Tracy) Mowery of Marine on St. Croix; Jason Knutson of St. Cloud; Eric Erfanian of Northfield; four great granddaughters, Madeline and Lily Mowery of Marine on St. Croix; Veronique and Dominique Michaud of Oxford, Mississippi; loving cousins, family members and treasured friends.
Marjorie “Marge” was preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Grace (Persinger) Ostling; her beloved husband, Niles Knutson; and cherished granddaughter, Chantale (Knutson) Michaud.
Memorials are preferred to Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church, Minneapolis, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family is grateful to Donna Perron and the staff of Ark on the River for their tender peaceful care. Thank you to North Memorial Hospice and to our cousin, Carolea Nord, who for the last 6 1/2 years lovingly guided us through Marjorie’s final journey.
