     Shirlie M. Barich, age 81, St. Cloud, MN died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN.
     Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Shirlie will be Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Cathedral Lower Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 18, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN. Parish prayers will be 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
     Shirlie was born March 31, 1927 in Minneapolis, MN to Hugh G. and Carrie (Smith) Roberts. She married Anthony “Tony” M. Barich on June 19, 1948 in Minneapolis, MN. Shirlie volunteered at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN for 25 years. She also was a volunteer for Mended Hearts. Shirlie was a member of St. Stephen’s Mission Group and St. Mary’s Cathedral.
     Survivors include her sons, Michael Barich of St. Paul, MN; Stephen (Rachel) Barich of Minnetonka, MN; and John Barich of San Francisco, CA; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brother and sister, Frank (Alvina) Roberts of Hudson, WI; and Delores Bowman of Mukilteo, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Tony on June 1, 2007; sister, Kay Johnson and brother, Mike Roberts.
     Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the St. Stephen’s Mission Group.
     Shirlie’s family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the St. Cloud Hospital and St. Benedict’s Senior Community for the outstanding love and care that they provided during Shirlie’s stay.
