Dr. David Peter Sogn Mork, age 66, St. Cloud, MN died Sunday, December 7, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Salem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Rev. Wayne Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, December 12, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. A Masonic prayer service will be at 5:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
David was born September 25, 1942 in Thief River Falls, MN to Joseph and Penny (Sogn) Mork. He married Ellen Wagner on August 20, 1966 in Worthington, Ohio. David received his Bachelor’s Degree from St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN and a Master’s and Ph.D. Degree from Purdue University, Indiana. David was a biology professor at St. Cloud State University from 1967 until his retirement in 2002. He was known as the “Bat Man” for his work with bat banding. David was a member of the SCSU Faculty Bowling Team, North Star Lodge No. 23 AF and AM, St. Cloud Chapter No. 10 Royal Arch Masons, Zabud Council No. 10 Brainerd, MN, Nazarene Commander No. 24, St. Cloud, Osman Shrine Club, St. Paul, MN, St. Cloud Shrine Club, and St. Cloud Shrine Go-Karts. He loved to fish and went to Lake Lida near Pelican Rapids every May. David also enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Mork of St. Cloud, MN; sons, Peter (Jennifer Matuska) Mork of Rockville, MD; Brian Mork of Bloomington, MN; brother, Robert Mork of Mora, MN; sister, Dorothy Monger of Corona Del Mar, CA; and one granddaughter, Skyler Matuska.
He was preceded in death by his parents
