     Ret. Lt. Col. Gerald Leroy Kragenbring, formerly of Spicer, MN, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008, from an extended illness, at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, MN.
     Gerry was born to Roy and Cecelia (Wheeler) Kragenbring, March 24th, 1929 in Atwater, MN. He attended Atwater High School and St. Cloud State University. In 1951, Gerry earned a Bachelor of Science degree from SCSU and subsequently joined the United States Air Force, in May of that year. He served as a combat pilot in the Korean Conflict and in three tours of duty in Vietnam. Gerry retired from the Air Force in October of 1971 and returned to the Spicer area where he became active in the real estate market.
     Gerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jane Kragenbring; children, Mary Susan (Jim) Burnett; Diana Lynn Chapin; Cynthia Ann King; Gerri Marie (Mark) Strohbeen; Jeffrey Lance (Gretchen) Kragenbring and Theresa Jane (Tim) Minor, eleven grandchildren and three great-children.
     Preceding him in death are his parents, and two brothers; Kenton and Robert Kragenbring.
     The Kragenbring family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the entire nursing staff and clergy of the VA Medical Center for the exceptional care and kindness given to Gerry during his stay.
     A private family memorial service has been planned.
     Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
