     Sylvia R. Ernest, age 100, Sartell, MN died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Country Manor Health Care Center, Sartell, MN.
     Sylvia Rose Travnicek was born January 1, 1908 in Chicago, IL to Anna and John Travnicek, who were immigrants from Czechoslovakia. Sylvia married Rudolph J. Ernest in October 1925 and the couple had one son, David.
     Over the years she enjoyed crocheting and knitting many beautiful afghans, scarfs, sweaters slippers and hats. She enjoyed reading and watching TV as well. On her 100th birthday, January 1, 2008, Sylvia received greetings from President Bush, Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, Berwyn, IL Mayor, Michael O’Connor; Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and many friends and relatives from around the world. She lived in Chicago, IL for 39 years until 1947, then lived in Berwyn, IL 56 years through 2003 when she moved to Sartell, MN.
     Sylvia is survived by her son, David J. (Prudence) Ernest of St. Cloud, MN; grandsons, David M. (Jennifer); Stephen J.; Bryan J. (Jude); and Christopher S. and great grandchildren, Maxwell and Olivia.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Rudy on July 27, 1984; two sisters, Mae Sinkula and Alice Vodraska; and one brother, Otto Travnicek.
     Funeral Services will on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Svec and Sons Funeral Home, Berwyn, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace, IL. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     Memorials preferred to donor’s choice.
