Eugene “Gene” A. Thyen, age 66, Waite Park, MN, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 14, 2008 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Waite Park, MN. Visitation will be Sunday, July 13, 2008 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Waite Park, MN.
Gene was born March 13, 1942 in Waite Park, MN to Leonard and Gertrude (Marx) Thyen. He married June J. Schultz on January 24, 1975 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Waite Park, MN. Gene was employed as an engineering technician for 35 years with the Stearns County Highway Department. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Richmond American Legion Post # 292, and the St. Cloud State University Center Ice Club. Gene was also a member of AA and proud of his 30 years of sobriety.
Survivors include sons and daughter, Michael (Sarah) Thyen of Eveleth, MN; Andrew (Cortney) Thyen of Elk River, MN; Mitchell (Michelle) Thyen of Minneapolis, MN; Jeanna (Samuel Vazquez A.) Thyen of Richfield, MN; mother, Gertrude Thyen of Waite Park, MN; brothers, Richard (Janet) Thyen of St. Augusta, MN; Walter (Mary) Thyen of Waite Park, MN; Mark (Elaine) Thyen of St. Joseph, MN; and four grandchildren, Brooke Thyen, Emilio Vazquez-Thyen, Beaux Thyen, Zoey Thyen; his faithful canine companion, Maggie; and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard; wife, June, on October 18, 2007; and sister, Luella Murphy. |
