     L. H. “Pete” Boatman, age 92, Clear Lake, MN died Friday, July 3, 2008 at his home.
     Funeral services will be Friday, July 11, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Revs. Jon Riggert and Dave Nelson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     L. H. “Pete” Boatman was born April 9, 1916 in Bain, MN to Harry and Lena (Geisdorf) Boatman. Pete enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 and was assigned to the Seabees, the Construction Battalions. His unit was assigned to build air bases in the Aleutian Islands. From there the battalion was sent to the island of Tinian in the Pacific to build the air base from which the atom bomb was eventually flown. Pete married Marie H. Banke on November 7, 1947 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN.
     After the war Pete returned to Megarry Brothers where he worked for many years as a payroll accountant. He also worked for St. Cloud Truck Sales and North Star Cemetery. Pete will be remembered for his strong work ethic and his determination to do things in the right way. He taught his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to persevere during difficult times. Pete was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, the Clearwater American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
     Survivors include sons and daughters, Ted (Marge) Boatman of St. Cloud, MN; Joey (Rosalyn) Boatman of Boulder, CO; Gretchen (Roger) Dykhuizen of Sartell, MN; and Jerry Ann Anderson of Clear Lake, MN; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
     Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie, on November 12, 2007; brother, Harry Boatman; and sisters, Dorothy Jantzen and Azalea Frohriep.
