     Ansley Willard Johnson, age 90, St. Cloud, MN died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home, Sauk Rapids, MN.
     Funeral services will be Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Salem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     Ansley was born October 25, 1917 at home in Martinsville Township, near Hector, MN, to Carl Albin and Hulda (Lindberg) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at Bernadotte Lutheran Church. Ansley attended and graduated from Hector High School, where he played drums in the band and played center field on the team that took the State Consolation Championship in 1936. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1941 with a degree in Agronomy and Agricultural Economics. In February 1942 he enlisted in the United States Army Air Force and was stationed at Rosecrans Field, Missouri, where he taught aircraft communications to pilots. Ansley married Vivian Dose on July 3, 1942 in St. Louis, MO. In September 1942 they moved to St. Cloud, MN where he began his career with the Whitney Land and Farm Management Service. Later Ansley began his own company, the Johnson Farm Service.
     He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, a past member and president of the St. Cloud Lions Club, a member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, and a member of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association. Ansley enjoyed his family, farming, hunting, fishing, golfing and traveling.
     Survivors include a son, Ansley W. (Theresemarie) Johnson, Jr. of Plymouth, MN; daughters, Bonita (Bryon) Strei of Rochester, MN; Deborah Johnson of Chandler, AZ; Candace (Steve) Thompson of New Brighton, MN; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 60 years, Vivian, on April 14, 2005, brother, Harley Johnson, and sisters, Arlene Austin, and Edna Bolin.
     Memorials are preferred to Salem Lutheran Foundation, Salvation Army, or a charity of donors choice.
