     Leslie Joseph Schmidt, age 74, St. Cloud, MN died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN.
     Memorial services will be Saturday, June 14th at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1044 County Rd. 4, St. Cloud, MN.
     Leslie was born December 29, 1933 in Lake George Township, Stearns County, MN to Julius and Evelyn (Nathe) Schmidt. He graduated from Albany High School in 1950 and Diesel School in St. Louis, MO. Leslie served in the US Navy from 1952 - 1955. He married Shirley M. Ramacher on October 25, 1958 in St. Anthony, MN. Leslie was employed by the Veterans Affairs Medical Center for over 30 years retiring in 1988. Leslie along with his wife were baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on November 5, 1972 and he served as an elder in the St. Cloud congregations. He did volunteer construction work at their translating/printing branch offices in various countries of South America and Africa.
     Survivors include his wife, Shirley M. Schmidt of St. Cloud, MN; daughter, Dawn M. (Bradley) Welsh of Onamia, MN; sons, Jeffrey J. (MaryBeth) Schmidt of South Africa; Zane J. (Angela) Schmidt of Nigeria, Africa; daughter, Sonya R. (Timothy) Dorfner of Sauk Rapids, MN; three grandchildren, Amanda M. (Derek) Gustafson, Ashley L. Welsh, Mitchell A. Welsh; brother and sisters, Kenneth D. (Rose) Schmidt of North Muskegon, MI; Marlys A. (Eugene) Bredeck of Abilene, TX and Lila M. (Robert) Tschida of Avon, MN.
     He was preceded in death by his parents.
     The Schmidt family would like to thank the Coborn’s Cancer Center, VA Medical Center and St. Cloud Hospital for the compassionate care provided to their father.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
