Elma Irene Pajala, 89, Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Brainerd, St. Cloud and Sauk Rapids, MN died Monday, April 21, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge, MN.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Finnish Lutheran Cemetery, Finlayson, MN.
Elma was born January 14, 1919 in Duluth, MN to David W. and Rose A. (Paavola) Raivo. She graduated from Finlayson High School in 1937 and then graduated from the Minneapolis Business College. On June 29, 1942, Elma married Edwin A. Pajala at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Kansas City, MO. They returned to Finlayson and farmed from 1946 to 1953. Elma worked as a clerk for the government in Sandstone, MN for almost 20 years. Elma and Edwin resided in Brainerd, MN from 1958 to 1974, when they moved to St. Cloud. In June 2007, she moved from Sauk Rapids to Breckenridge, MN.
Survivors include her sons, David (Carol) Pajala of Chula Vista, CA; Robert (Kathy) Pajala of Woodbury, MN; Mark (Linda) Pajala of Wahpeton, ND; son-in-law, Ronald Frick of St. Cloud, MN; three grandchildren, Andrew Frick, Michael Pajala and Kimberly Pajala; one great grandson, Seth; niece and goddaughter, Linda Luoma of Sartell, MN; and other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edwin, on September 22, 1991, daughter, Carol Frick on October 2, 2005, and three brothers.
