     Gladys J. Ekensteen, age 84, St. Cloud, MN died Friday, April 4, 2008 at Sterling Park Health Care, Waite Park, MN.
     Funeral services will be Friday, April 11, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Thursday, April 10, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. American Legion Post 428 Auxiliary prayer service will be at 6:00 PM and VFW Post 428 Auxiliary prayer service will be at 6:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery, Evansville, MN.
     Gladys was born June 4, 1923 on the family farm in Douglas County, MN to Adrian and Ida (Iverson) Lewis. She married Rudolph V. Ekensteen on June 25, 1951 in Alexandria, MN. Gladys volunteered for the VA Medical Center, St. Cloud for many years. She worked as an Election Judge for years. Gladys was a member of VFW Post 428 Auxiliary, St. Cloud, MN, American Legion Post 428 Auxiliary, Waite Park, MN, Military Order of Cooties Auxiliary and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN.
     Survivors include her children, Patricia (Larry) Goetz of Thornton, CO; Danny (Dr. Barbara) Schauer of Littleton, CO; Larry Ekensteen of St. Cloud, MN; Julie (Lila Johnson) Ekensteen of Minneapolis, MN; Randy (Mel) Ekensteen of Ham Lake, MN; brothers, Gordon Lewis of Wheaton, MN; and Adrian (Mary Ellen) Lewis of Lakewood, CO; six grandchildren, Lance, Vance, Jason, Chad, Chelsey, Dustin; and five great grandchildren, Tiffany, Summer, Anthony, Jackson and Evelyn.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Rudolph “Vic” on August 19, 1965, brother, Emerson Lewis and sister, Eva Lewis.
