Mary K. Schmidt, age 92, St. Cloud, MN died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at St. Benedict’s Care Center, St. Cloud, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN. Fr. Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, February 29, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Parish prayers will be at 5:00 PM at the funeral home on Friday. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.
Mary was born May 8, 1915 in St. Cloud, MN to Theodore P. and Elizabeth H. (Richter) Streitz. She married Herman Schmidt on January 2, 1937 in St. Cloud, MN. Mary and her husband, Herman, owned and operated St. Cloud Jobbing. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Mary loved to bowl and enjoyed playing cards. She was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished her time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include sons and daughters, Earl (Lois) Schmidt of Tower, MN; Donna Sjobeck of Portland, OR; Mary Flood of Jordan, MN; Roger (Kathy) Schmidt of St. Cloud, MN; Judy (Pat) Stark of Hastings, MN; Thomas (JoAnn) Schmidt of St. Cloud, MN; Milton (Susan) Schmidt of St. Cloud, MN; Susan (Mark) Heysse of St. Cloud, MN; brother, John “Bud” (Cleo) Streitz of St. Cloud, MN; 24 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herman, on February 2, 1987, granddaughter, Marsha Flood, and three brothers, Albert, Julius and Roman Streitz.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Benedict’s Care Center, Holy Spirit Catholic Church or American Heart Association.
