    LOUIS E. BEHAN-LIZANA, 58
    St. Cloud
    May 5, 1949 - January 16, 2008

Louis Edward Behan-Lizana, at age 58, living in St. Cloud Minnesota, died Wednesday early in the morning at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was stricken with cancer, diabetes, and psoriasis of the liver. He fought these illnesses, but finally lost to them two years later.
Louis came to the United States after being raised in Vienna,Austria. His mother, Julia Behan who passed in May of 2007, raised him alone after losing his father, Louis Edward Lizana, when he was only 2 years old. When Louis finally came to the United States at age 18, he immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army to follow in his father’s footsteps. Out of basic training he entered training in the 82nd Airborne, only to reinjure a broken arm and be discharged honorably shortly before deployment to Vietnam.
Once discharged from the army, he pursued a career in professional security and bail bond collection. After many years doing this he met his wife to be Gretchen Brown, and then trained and started a career in electronics engineering. Gretchen and Louis had a child Max, who survives him and is married to Bree; they have a daughter Sydney. Louis and Gretchen were later divorced after 20 years, but still remained friends.
After leaving the field of electronics engineering, he started working for Labor Ready. He worked for this company for quite a few years, eventually managing multiple offices they opened in Philadelphia, and continued working in temporary labor management in St. Cloud, Minnesota for 1 year. Once he moved to Minnesota he met and lived with his partner, Jennifer Nelson, till his death.. He also became a member of the North Star Lodge #23 AF and AM in St. Cloud. Once stricken with these multiple illnesses, Jennifer took on the task of caring for and supporting Louis through his many hardships.
Through his life Louis was always striving to find his own identity, and place in the world. Once embraced into the community of St. Cloud and the Lodge, he found the peace he had searched for all his life. And now in death he has found peace from his struggle with his pain. A statement he always repeated through his life was 'All things with reverence and mirth'. This was, I think, an adequate explanation of his outlook on life.
Survivors include his son, Max (Bree) Lizana, of Bridgeport, PA; partner, Jennifer Nelson of St. Cloud, MN; one granddaughter, Sydney Lizana; and ex-wife Gretchen Lizana of Bridgeport, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud MN.
