     John J. Sargent, age 72, St. Cloud, MN died Friday, November 23, 2007 at his home.
     Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Salem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 27, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.
     John Sargent was born June 19, 1935 in East Grand Forks, MN to Joseph and Phoebe (Gross) Sargent. He married Marlene J. Hill on November 30, 1956 in Brainerd, MN. John was employed as a Market Manager for grocery stores in Brainerd, St. Cloud and the Minneapolis area. He was also a licensed part time Police Officer for Waite Park, MN and the Rescue Squad in Waite Park. John was active in the Boy Scouts for over 30 years, Habitat for Humanity and a member of Salem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud.
     Survivors include his wife, Marlene Sargent of St. Cloud, MN; daughter and son; Konni (Stephen) Yingst of Golden Valley, MN; Steve (Deb) Sargent of Minneapolis, MN; brother and sisters, Gerald (Roberta) Sargent of Saginaw, MI; Jean Vinje of Brainerd, MN; and Jeanette Rutledge of Lindstrom, MN; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Evan, and Brian Yingst, Jared, Jordan, and Jamus Sargent, and Tasmin Sturgis.
     He was preceded in death by his parents.
     Casketbearers will be Kyle, Evan, and Brian Yingst, Jared Sargent, Ben Theisen, and James Grothe.
     In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Coborn’s Cancer Center.
