Funeral Location: Bowlus Community Center, Bowlus, Minnesota

Gary’s journey began on July 3rd 1958 in Winnipeg, Canada. He was born to Irene and Allan Currie. His brother Daryl joined the family three years later. Gary’s love of music started at the age of five with an accordion and thru his youth he studied and practiced with the Deelay Studio in Winnipeg. His early youth found him playing various socials at local V.F.W.’s and Legion Halls.
1975 Found Gary accompanying a local musician to Sarasota, Florida for a six week gig that presented a five year contract with the Rode Corporation in Sarasota. While there he also played a solo act for the West Coast Symphony-Epcot Center-Disney World... just to name a few.
His music then took him on his journey to Seefeld, Austria in 1980 where his love for the European country began. The next 26 years found him touring the U.S.A. and Europe performing a wide variety of music from Florida-Chicago-Philadelphia-New York and many places in between.
Gary did several 10 week tours for the Military, which he felt truly honored to be entertaining for. European tours included many ski resorts in and around Austria, Switzerland, South Germany, Italy, and Spain. Gary also was a music director in the five star hotel resort “Schweizerhof” in Saas-Fee Switzerland.
Gary returned to the U.S.A. in 1998 to play venues in the Chicago area and then returning to Winnipeg in 2001. Gary sought help for his alcohol addiction which he struggled with for over 20 years. At this time God put Pastor Randy Leavitt in Gary’s
journey. He was baptized on September 22, 2002-Pastor Randy remained a very special person and spiritual advisor to Gary.
2004 God allowed Gary and Jordie’s paths to cross. He became a true blessing for her and her family. “We thank God for allowing us to have him in our lives the past three years. ”
2006 Gary met Charlie Roth and formed a great duo and friendship while playing venues in and around Minnesota. 2007 Gary joined The Ring o f Kerry Band and recently played The Missouri State Fair and The Paramount. Gary also played The Piano Bar, Patsy Cline Show, Magic Moments, and Our Town at Pioneer Place. Gary was a member of the Glendorado Lutheran Church where he sang and played for their church services and where his gift truly shone through.
Gary’s journey ended tragically on Thursday October 25, 2007 in St. Cloud.
Gary will be dearly missed by each and every person who had the opportunity to know him and his music. Gary is survived by his mother Irene, brother Daryl, son Allan, daughter Brenda, many aunts, uncles, cousins, Jordie Stay, her family and his dog Max.
Preceded in death by his father in 2000.
