     Clyde “Jake” Allyn McNally, age 87, St. Cloud, MN died Monday, October 1, 2007 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
     Funeral services will be Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Rev. Jon Riggert and Rev. Paul Dare will officiate. Visitation will be (TODAY) Wednesday, October 3, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
     Clyde McNally was born May 8, 1920 in Winona County, MN to Charles E. and Cora (Olson) McNally. He worked on the family farm prior to being drafted into the United States Army. Clyde served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1946 during World War II. During that time he was a POW for 5 months. He married Lu Davis on February 28, 1948 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Clyde was employed as an auto mechanic for Klein Motor Company for 35 years retiring in 1984. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Waite Park American Legion Post #428, Central Minnesota Ex POW’s and AA.
     In his younger days, Clyde was an accomplished walleye fisherman and built his own flat bottom boat. He enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Pelican Lake by St. Anna. Clyde loved to work on anything and could repair and do whatever he put his mind to, including restoring a John Deere 1946 B tractor. He was an avid reader on any topic, but especially history. Clyde loved to chop wood and tapped trees to make maple syrup. He also enjoyed gardening and identifying birds and trees. Clyde was always willing to lend a hand to help others.
     Survivors include his wife, Lu McNally of St. Cloud, MN; sons, Doug (Vicki) McNally of San Diego, CA; Larry McNally of St. Cloud, MN; daughter-in-law, Kathy McNally of La Habra Heights, CA; brother, James “Ray” McNally of Winona, MN; and sister, Jean Corey of Everett, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Russ, in 2006, and brothers, Bruce and Bob.
     Pallbearers will be Adam Watrin, Lance Watrin, Patrick Watrin, Brian Niedermeier, Bob Skillingsrud, and Don Duel
     Memorials are preferred to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or WACOSA.
