     Irwin “Bud” W. Carlson, age 83, St. Cloud, MN died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, St. Cloud, MN.
     Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Veterans Affairs Medical Center Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Father Alfred Stangl will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 12, 2007 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN, and one hour prior to the service at the chapel on Wednesday. Prayer services will be at 6:00 PM and 6:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.
     Bud was born November 3, 1923 in St. Cloud, MN to John B. and Hulda M.(Mattson) Carlson. He graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1942. He served in the United States Army Air Corp. in W.W.II from 1943 to 1945. Bud was united in marriage to Shirley Kollman on June 11, 1946 at First Presbyterian Church, St. Cloud, MN. He was employed by Franklin Manufacturing for 43 years and retired as an inspector in 1991. Bud was a member of the Machinists Union, Sauk Rapids American Legion Post # 254, St. Cloud Eagles Aerie #622, Golden K Kwannis, and First Presbyterian Church, St. Cloud, MN. For many years, Bud and Shirley volunteered at St. Cloud Technical High School in the ‘Tiger Den’. Some of Bud’s favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, bowling, and spending time with family, especially the grandchildren at the cabin on Little Rock Lake.
     Survivors include his wife, Shirley of St. Cloud, MN; son, Bryan “Doc” (Beth) Carlson of St. Cloud, MN; daughter, Peggy Carlson of St. Cloud, MN; three grandchildren Peter, Matthew and Katie Carlson; and sisters, Ellen Held of St. Cloud, MN and Delphine “Della” Denney of Sauk Rapids, MN.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Albert, Earl, and Robert.
