Lydia L. Cox, age 86, St. Cloud, MN died Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Country Manor Health Care Center, Sartell, MN.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Grace United Methodist Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 22, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Snake River Cemetery, Becker Township, Sherburne County, MN.
Lydia L. Cox was born August 23, 1920 in Big Lake, MN to Werner and Emma (Johnson) Nelson. She married Alden R. Cox on February 26, 1943 in Becker, MN. Lydia taught in a one room school house in Sherburne County, then taught in Clear Lake, Becker, St. Joseph and St. Cloud. After retirement she taught for one year at Red Bird Mission in Beverly, KY; and then at a British prep school in Santiago, Chile. Lydia then worked for Bankers Systems and then ARIA Communications. She also volunteered at the Salvation Army. Lydia was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, St. Cloud, MN.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathlyn Hagen of Sauk Rapids, MN; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, Laurie (Dan) Rogosheske, Jeremy and Stacy; Paul Hagen, Jennifer, Andrew and Alexis; Elizabeth (Jeff) Price, Emma and Julia; Toni (Rich) Nixon, Richard and Morgan; and Andrea (Scott) Workman, Bailey and Owen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on August 4, 1969; one daughter, Ellen Salas on February 25, 1988; one great granddaughter, Tiara Martel-Dingmann on November 26, 2005; three brothers, Leslie, Roy and Oscar; and two sisters, Clara Rietman and Hildur.
