Sylvester Joseph Hollenkamp, age 84, St. Cloud, MN, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 11, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Sylvester Hollenkamp was born September 8, 1922 in St. Cloud, MN to Bernard and Mary (Hendera) Hollenkamp. He married Virginia Ann Knese on June 16, 1945 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN. Sylvester was employed in the construction industry by Lunda Construction as a carpenter and bridge builder, retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, and St. Cloud Eagles Aerie #622.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Hollenkamp of St. Cloud, MN; sons and daughters, Gary Hollenkamp of St. Cloud, MN; Dan (Tavia) Hollenkamp of Salem, OR; Donny (Julie) Hollenkamp of St. Cloud, MN; Jackie (Mike) McKenzie of Knoxville, TN; Gerri (Randy) Finneman of St. Paul, MN; Cindy (Rodgers) Holland of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Elinor Shaw of Minneapolis, MN; Dorothy Becker of St. Cloud, MN; 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Benny, grandson, Justin, brothers, Bernard, Norbert, Clarence, and Lawrence, and sisters, Sophie, Martha, Hilda and Lena.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Scott Finneman, Steve Finneman, Jason Hollenkamp, Michael McKenzie, Robert McKenzie, and Ryan Holland.
