Ellen Christine Ertl, age 99, of Waite Park, MN, died Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Sterling Park Health Care Center, Waite Park, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, May 7, 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waite Park, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Waite Park, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Ellen was born May 18, 1907 in Leonard, ND to James and Amelia G. (Fey) Hughes. She married John A. Ertl on October 24, 1933 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Waite Park, MN. Ellen lived in Waite Park all of her married life. She was employed at Thielman Hardware Co. from 1924 to 1947, then employed at Powell Hardware from 1948 to 1964. Later, Ellen was employed by Dan Marsh Drug Store in the accounting department for 5 years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Waite Park, Daughters of Isabella, Christian Mothers, Burlington Northern Veterans Auxiliary, St. Cloud Women’s Bowling Association, and St. Cloud Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
Survivors include a daughter, Karlene Greulich of St. Cloud, MN; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, on August 8, 1994, half-sister, Lottie Schoen and half-brother, Sam Hughes.
