     James E. Butt, age 81, St. Cloud, MN died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 from cancer at the St. Cloud Hospital.
     A celebration of his life will be Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Rev. Anna Payne will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, May 7, 2007 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. VFW Post #4847 prayer service will be at 6:00 PM Monday at the funeral home followed by a Masonic prayer service at 6:30 PM. Burial, with full military rites, will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN
     James Butt was born May 24, 1925 in St. Cloud, MN to Frank Frederick William and Helen (Tollefson) Butt. He married Minerva F. Shern on June 4, 1949 in Newfolden, MN. James served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone from 1949 until his retirement. James was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, life member of St. Cloud Eastside VFW Post #4847; and member of St. Cloud Eagles Aerie #622, St. Cloud North Star Masonic Lodge #23 AF & AM, Minneapolis Zurah Shrine, Minneapolis Scottish Rite, and St. Cloud Order of Eastern Star Granite Chapter #5. For “Grandpa” Jim it was always the special passion he had for his family; he truly enjoyed his life as a husband and dad. He treasured spending time with family and friends in the outdoors and was an avid golfer, hunter and angler.
     Survivors include a daughter, Pamela (David) Faust of St. Cloud, MN; brother, Monroe Butts of Robbinsdale, MN; sister, Deloris (Donald) Eizenhoefer Olson of St. Cloud, MN; two grandchildren, Jennifer (fiancee Josh Kuseske) Faust and Matt Faust; and one great grandchild, Logan Faust.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Minerva, on February 5, 2002, daughter, Cindy Butt in 1951, and brother Virgil Butts.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
