Lois A. Holder, age 84 of Sartell, MN died Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN.

Lois was born on April 25, 1922 near Correctionville, Iowa to Herb and Flora (Haskins) Sellman. She grew up in Battle Creek, Iowa where she graduated from high school. Her musical talent was evident early in her life and she was in great demand, winning talent shows and playing at church functions. She studied piano and organ, eventually becoming a professional organist.
Lois married John W. Irvine just before World War II and gave birth to her first child, James H. Irvine. They lived in Battle Creek, Iowa during W.W.II. They later divorced.
She met and married the love of her life, John “Jack” Meredith Holder in 1947. They settled in Sioux City, Iowa. She took into her life Jack’s daughter, Jackine as he took her son as his own. Three other children followed, Lin, Tricia and Carter.
Lois was an early career woman who balanced family with performing at supper clubs, on the radio and concerts. She starred for several years on her own television program called “Demand Performance” in Corpus Christi, Texas when the family moved there in 1951. She always gave generously of her time and talent as a church organist and taught many students and took great pride in their achievements.
Lois and Jack retired to Westphalia, Iowa where Jack served as mayor and Lois was active in community activities and served as a church organist.
Following the death of her husband in 1988, she joined her daughter, Lin, in St. Cloud, MN in 1989, where she continued to give concerts and served as a church organist until her health began to decline.
Lois is survived by her children, Jim H. (Becky) Irvine of Schleswig, Iowa; Jackine “Sunny” Brodsky of Sauk Rapids, MN; Dr. Lin Holder of St. Cloud, MN; Tricia (Hal) Cottrell of New Lebanon, OH; Carter M. (Miriam) Holder of St. Cloud, MN; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and her faithful feline companion, Abby.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack on January 2, 1988, one sister, Irene and two brothers, Richard and Darrell.
