     Shirley R. Nylund, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, age 78, St. Cloud, MN, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 27, 2006. She died at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
     Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 3rd at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. The Rev. Gary Berg will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on 4310 County Road 137, St.Cloud, MN. There will be a private internment on Wednesday, October 4th, at Pinewood Cemetery, Crosslake, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     Shirley Nylund was born January 6, 1928 to Lewis J. and Clara R. (Mork) McNally in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She graduated from Postville High School in Postville, Iowa, and Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Shirley married Donald R. Nylund on June 17, 1950, at Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder, Iowa. She taught elementary school in the Sauk Rapids School District for 10 years, retiring in 1986. Shirley also taught several years at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Preschool. She was a member of TRA; MEA; and Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
     Shirley is survived by her beloved husband, Donald Nylund of St. Cloud; sons and daughter, Steven (Mary) Nylund of Rogers, MN; Donovan Nylund of Belmont, NC; Jeff (Terri) Nylund of Ramsey, MN; Julie (Michael) Cadalbert of Baldwin, WI; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Nylund) Surla, Jaclyn (Nylund) Miller, Rachel (Nylund) Turkowski, and Jacob Nylund; one great grandson, Adam Miller; brother and sisters, Mike McNally of Burke, VA; Mary Blatti of New Hampton, IA; Lucille Cochrane of Ankeny, IA; Dolores Varty of Clear Lake, IA; Patricia Smith of Elgin, IA; Betty Searls of Ames, IA; Sandra Cutler of Ankeny, IA.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister, Wayne and Robert McNally, and Virginia Rude.
     Memorials are preferred to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Sunday School program.
     Pallbearers will be her children and grandchildren
